Delaware DMV exam simulator
Take the knowledge test the way the DMV gives it: 32 questions picked at random from all 309 of ours, 26 correct to pass. You only see your answers at the end. Pass three in a row and you're ready for the real thing.
32 questions · 26 to pass
How the simulator works
- Every attempt draws a new random set of 32 questions from across the handbook.
- No feedback until you finish, as in the real test. Then you see your score and every question you missed, with the explanation and handbook reference.
- Your results stay in this browser. After three passes in a row you'll see "You're ready".
- The DMV doesn't publish a time limit for this test, so the clock just shows how long you've taken.
Highway Sign and Signal Test (part of the knowledge exam).
About the real Delaware DMV test
Knowledge exam in two parts: a Highway Sign and Signal Test (identify signs by shape, color or symbol and explain signs, signals and pavement markings) and a Rules of the Road Test (Delaware rules of the road, motor vehicle laws and safety practices). Taken at a DMV facility along with a vision screening; driver education students under 18 present the Delaware Driver Education Certificate instead.
- Audio or oral test: Applicants needing accommodation should call ahead for an appointment; a Visor Communication Card is available for deaf or hard-of-hearing drivers.
On test day
- Bring the documents on the Delaware what-to-bring list, and check you meet the minimum age (16).
- You'll take a vision test first: 20/40 in at least one eye, with or without glasses or contact lenses. Daylight-only driving may be allowed with vision between 20/40 and 20/50. Bring your glasses or contacts if you wear them.
- Read each question and every answer to the end before choosing; watch for words like "not" and "except".
- Review the hardest questions the night before: exact numbers are where most points are lost.
