Missouri DOR exam simulator
Take the knowledge test the way the DOR gives it: 25 questions picked at random from all 299 of ours, 20 correct to pass. You only see your answers at the end. Pass three in a row and you're ready for the real thing.
25 questions · 20 to pass
How the simulator works
- Every attempt draws a new random set of 25 questions from across the handbook.
- No feedback until you finish, as in the real test. Then you see your score and every question you missed, with the explanation and handbook reference.
- Your results stay in this browser. After three passes in a row you'll see "You're ready".
- The DOR doesn't publish a time limit for this test, so the clock just shows how long you've taken.
The real test differs by age: Class E (for-hire) applicants: 25 questions, 20 to pass; Class M (motorcycle) applicants: 25 questions, 20 to pass. The simulator uses the main format.
Separate road sign recognition test (DOR Form 4869), required for every new license, transfer and renewal.

It is one part of a four-part exam: written, vision, road sign recognition and driving skills.

- If you fail: No waiting period beyond the two-per-day limit.
- Fee: No charge for the written test or the non-CDL skills test. You pay only for the permit or license at a DOR license office (instruction permit $10.00, valid 12 months).
- Audio or oral test: Audio (headphones) version in English and Spanish, or an examiner can read the test to you.
On test day
- Bring the documents on the Missouri what-to-bring list, and check you meet the minimum age (15).
- You'll take a vision test first: Acuity at least 20/40 with either or both eyes; peripheral vision at least 55 degrees in each eye or 85 degrees in one eye. If both natural and corrected acuity are worse than 20/160, or combined peripheral is worse than 70 degrees, no driving test and no license. Bring your glasses or contacts if you wear them.
- Read each question and every answer to the end before choosing; watch for words like "not" and "except".
- Review the hardest questions the night before: exact numbers are where most points are lost.
