Nevada DMV exam simulator
Take the knowledge test the way the DMV gives it: 25 questions picked at random from all 294 of ours, 20 correct to pass, with a 60-minute time limit. You only see your answers at the end. Pass three in a row and you're ready for the real thing.
25 questions · 20 to pass · 60 minutes
How the simulator works
- Every attempt draws a new random set of 25 questions from across the handbook.
- No feedback until you finish, as in the real test. Then you see your score and every question you missed, with the explanation and handbook reference.
- Your results stay in this browser. After three passes in a row you'll see "You're ready".
- The timer matches the real test's 60 minutes; when it runs out, the test ends.
The real test differs by age: online test (KnowToDrive Nevada): 25 questions, 20 to pass; in person at a DMV office: 25 questions, 20 to pass. The simulator uses the main format.
About the real Nevada DMV test
Multiple choice. Take it online any time through KnowToDrive Nevada (computer with a front-facing camera; touch-screen devices not supported; results are sent to the DMV) or in person on touch-screen computers at DMV offices. Teens and adults (18 and older) take the same test. A passing result is valid 1 year.
- Languages: Online: English and Spanish. In person: English, Spanish and audio. An oral exam can be requested. If you don't speak English or Spanish, you may use an interpreter (not a family member) who brings an approval letter from a government agency, court, school or non-profit advocacy group, signs an attestation each session and submits an Affidavit of Oath (DLD-11). You pay the interpreter's fees. Interpreters are not allowed on drive tests.
- If you fail: If you fail, you can retake the test the next day. If you are disqualified online, you can retake it after 24 hours.
- Fee: $25 initial knowledge and/or skills testing fee; $10 for each retest.
- Audio or oral test: An audio version is offered in person, and you can ask for an oral exam.
On test day
- Bring the documents on the Nevada what-to-bring list, and check you meet the minimum age (15½).
- You'll take a vision test first: Minimum acceptable vision 20/40 in at least one eye. Glasses/contacts needed to pass → restriction B. Bring your glasses or contacts if you wear them.
- Read each question and every answer to the end before choosing; watch for words like "not" and "except".
- Review the hardest questions the night before: exact numbers are where most points are lost.
