End School Zone sign

Marks the downstream end of a designated school zone.

What to do

School-zone rules no longer apply past this sign; the regular limits resume.

Return to the normal limit only after you pass the sign, and keep watching for children near the school.

Where it's used

Section 7B.02 allows an END SCHOOL ZONE (S5-2) sign at the downstream end of a designated school zone, and Section 7B.05 lets it be used instead of END SCHOOL SPEED LIMIT when the school speed limit zone ends at the same point. It is a vertical black-on-white rectangle (24 x 30 inches). A Speed Limit sign showing the normal limit may be mounted above it on the same post.

Don't confuse it with

  • End School Speed Limit: END SCHOOL SPEED LIMIT ends only the reduced speed limit, while END SCHOOL ZONE ends the whole designated school zone.
  • School: The School sign marks where the zone begins; this sign marks where it ends.
