School plaque sign

Plaque that may be mounted with a School Zone sign or above a Speed Limit sign to show the limit applies in the school zone.

What to do

Obey the school speed limit and rules shown in the assembly.

When the SCHOOL plaque sits above a speed limit, read the plaque below too, because it tells you when the lower limit applies.

Also used in the School Speed Limit assembly (7B.05).

Where it's used

Section 7B.02 allows the SCHOOL (S4-3P) plaque to supplement a School Zone (S1-1) sign, and Section 7B.05 requires it as the top plaque of the School Speed Limit assembly, above a Speed Limit sign and a bottom plaque giving the times the limit applies. It is a small horizontal plaque (24 x 9 inches) with black letters on fluorescent yellow-green. A 12 x 4 inch size may be mounted above an in-street school crossing sign (Section 7B.03).

Don't confuse it with

  • School: The S1-1 is the five-sided School sign itself, while the S4-3P is a small rectangular word plaque used with other signs.
  • School Speed Limit When Flashing: The S5-1 is a single sign that includes the speed and WHEN FLASHING, while the S4-3P is just the SCHOOL plaque in a multi-part assembly.
