Electric Vehicle Charging sign

Electric vehicle charging is available.

What to do

Follow the sign to reach a charging station.

Check your charge and the charger's network or hours before relying on it, especially on long rural stretches.

Where it's used

Section 2I.02 allows the Electric Vehicle Charging (D9-11b) General Service sign, a white symbol on a blue square. On conventional roads it may only point to chargers that meet the federal DC fast-charger criteria in 23 CFR 680.106 and operate at least 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. A D9-11bP plaque version exists, and the same symbol is used with Alternative Fuels Corridor signs.

Don't confuse it with

  • Gas: The Gas sign shows a fuel pump for gasoline or diesel, not electric charging.
  • Lodging: The Lodging sign shows a bed.
