Food sign

Food is available off the road ahead.

What to do

Follow the sign to reach food services.

Plan breaks at these exits on long drives instead of eating while driving.

Where it's used

Section 2I.02 allows the Food (D9-8) General Service sign where food services are infrequent and found only on an intersecting road, and it is used more widely on freeways. It is a white knife-and-fork symbol on a blue square. At intersections it must be accompanied by a direction, often with an arrow plaque.

Don't confuse it with

  • Gas: The Gas sign shows a fuel pump.
  • Lodging: The Lodging sign shows a bed.
  • Rest Area: A REST AREA has parking and restrooms but not necessarily food.
