No Left Turn sign
Left turns are not allowed from this approach to the intersection.
What to do
Do not turn left here; find another legal route.
Plan another route such as going around the block, and never try to make the forbidden left from a different lane.
Where it's used
Section 2B.26 uses the No Left Turn sign where left turns are prohibited from the whole approach; at least one should be overhead, at the far left corner, on a median, or with the STOP or YIELD sign on the near right corner. It is a white square with a black left-turn arrow under a red circle and slash, and it may carry hours or vehicle-class legends. It must not be used on a roundabout approach to forbid turning left onto the circulatory roadway, and it may be omitted where ONE WAY signs make the restriction clear.
Don't confuse it with
- No Right Turn: No Right Turn shows the arrow bending right and prohibits right turns instead.
- No U-Turn or Left Turn: The combination sign also prohibits U-turns, whereas No Left Turn by itself only bans the left turn.
- No U-Turn: No U-Turn shows a U-shaped arrow and bans turning around, not a normal left turn.
