No Right Turn sign
Right turns are not allowed from this approach to the intersection.
What to do
Do not turn right here; continue straight or turn where it is permitted.
If you need to go right, continue to the next legal turn and check for any hours or vehicle-type plaque that limits when the ban applies.
Where it's used
Section 2B.26 requires Movement Prohibition signs where a movement is banned from an entire approach, and at least one No Right Turn sign should be overhead or at a right-hand corner; at signals it should be next to the signal face for the right lane. It is a white square with a black right-turn arrow inside a red circle and slash. Versions exist for specific vehicle classes or exceptions (R3-1b to R3-1f) and with hours of effect (R3-1g, R3-1h), and part-time bans may use blank-out electronic signs.
Don't confuse it with
- No Left Turn: No Left Turn shows the arrow bending left and bans left turns, while No Right Turn bans right turns.
- No Turns: NO TURNS is a word sign banning both left and right turns, while this symbol sign bans only the right turn.
- No Turn on Red: NO TURN ON RED only bans turning while the signal is red; No Right Turn bans the turn at all times (or the hours shown).
