No Outlet sign
The road or network of roads ahead has no other exit.
What to do
You will have to come back out the same way.
Enter only if your destination is inside the area, and expect to leave by the same road you came in on.
Where it's used
Section 2C.24 allows the NO OUTLET (W14-2) sign at the entrance to a road or network of roads that has no other exit, posted at the entry or far enough ahead for drivers to turn off at the nearest cross street. It is a black-on-yellow diamond word sign. A horizontal NO OUTLET (W14-2a) version with an arrow may be mounted with a street name sign to show which way the cross street leads to no outlet.
Don't confuse it with
- Dead End: DEAD END is for a single street that ends, while NO OUTLET can cover a whole set of connected streets with only one way out.
- Do Not Enter: DO NOT ENTER forbids you to enter, while NO OUTLET only warns that you will have to come back the same way.
