Playground sign

A children's playground is next to the road.

What to do

Slow down and watch for children who may run into the street.

Slow down and watch for children, who may run out after a ball without looking.

May use fluorescent yellow-green background.

Where it's used

Section 2C.56 allows the Playground (W15-1) sign to give advance warning of a designated children's playground next to the road. It is a diamond with a black symbol of children on a playground, on yellow or fluorescent yellow-green. If children must cross the road to reach the playground, crosswalk markings and a pedestrian warning sign should be considered as well.

Don't confuse it with

  • School: The five-sided School sign warns of a school area, while the diamond Playground sign warns of a playground beside the road.
  • Pedestrian Warning: The Pedestrian Warning sign marks where people walk in or cross the road, not a playground.
