Reversible Lane Markings sign

Double broken yellow lines on each side of a lane whose direction of travel changes at different times; signs or lane-use signals must also be used.

What to do

Check the overhead signals or signs before using the lane.

Before entering the lane, check the overhead lane-use signals or signs: a green arrow means it is open to you, a red X means it is not.

Where it's used

Section 3B.04 requires a normal-width broken double yellow line on each side of a reversible lane, a lane whose direction of travel changes from time to time, so that each marking serves as the center line during some periods. These markings must be backed up by signs (Section 2B.34), lane-use control signals (Chapter 4T) or both. Section 3E.02 covers counter-flow preferential lanes that also reverse.
