Truck Crossing sign
Trucks may enter or cross the road here.
What to do
Watch for slow, large trucks entering the road.
Be ready to slow for a heavy truck pulling out slowly, and give it space because it needs room to accelerate and turn.
TRUCK CROSSING word sign (W8-6) is an alternate.
Where it's used
Section 2C.54 allows the Truck (W11-10) symbol sign where trucks may unexpectedly enter or cross the road, such as near a quarry or plant, and only where sight distance is limited or the entries would be unexpected. It is a black-on-yellow diamond with a truck symbol. The word sign TRUCK CROSSING (W8-6) may be used instead, and plaques such as AHEAD or XX FEET may be added.
Don't confuse it with
- No Trucks: No Trucks is a regulatory sign banning trucks, while this warning sign tells you trucks may enter the road.
- Farm Vehicle: Farm Vehicle warns of slow farm machinery rather than trucks.
- Hill: The Hill sign also shows a truck, but on a slope, and warns of a steep downgrade.
