Where it's used
Section 9D.02 describes the Bike Route Guide (D11-1) sign as the sign for designated bicycle routes that are not numbered or named, used to show direction changes and confirm the route. It is a green guide sign with a white bicycle symbol and the words BIKE ROUTE, and an alternative D11-1c version may show a direction, destination or route name instead. It may be repeated at intervals, used with BEGIN or END plaques, and should not show travel times.
Don't confuse it with
- Bike Lane: The BIKE LANE sign is a white regulatory sign for a lane reserved for bicycles, while BIKE ROUTE is a green guide sign for a route that may share the road.
- Bicycle Warning: The yellow Bicycle Warning sign warns drivers that cyclists may be present.
- Bicycles Allowed Use of Full Lane: BICYCLES MAY USE FULL LANE is a regulatory sign about where cyclists may ride in the lane.
