No Bicycles sign
Bicycles are excluded from the road or facility beyond the sign.
What to do
Bicyclists must use another route.
On a road with this sign you should not expect bicyclists on the travel lanes, but stay alert near ramps and crossings where people may still appear.
Where it's used
No Bicycles is one of the Selective Exclusion signs in Section 2B.45, used where state or local law excludes bicycles from a road or facility such as a freeway. It is a white square with a black bicycle under a red circle and slash. Combined legends such as NO PEDESTRIANS OR BICYCLES (R5-10b) are used on freeway ramps where both are prohibited, placed so anyone trying to enter from a crossing street can see them.
Don't confuse it with
- Bicycle Warning: The yellow Bicycle Warning diamond warns drivers to expect bicyclists, while No Bicycles prohibits them.
- Bike Route: The green Bike Route guide sign marks a road recommended for cycling, the opposite of an exclusion.
- No Trucks: No Trucks uses the same red circle and slash design but excludes trucks.
