T-Intersection sign

The road you are on ends ahead at a T-intersection.

What to do

Slow down and be ready to stop, yield and turn left or right.

Slow down early and get ready to stop or yield, because you will have to turn left or right.

Where it's used

Section 2C.41 allows the T-Intersection (W2-4) sign in advance of an intersection where your road ends at a crossing road. It is a black-on-yellow diamond with a T symbol, and unlike most intersection warning signs it may be used even when your approach has a STOP or YIELD sign or a signal. It may be supplemented at the T itself by a Two-Direction Large Arrow (W1-7) sign on the far side.

Don't confuse it with

  • Cross Road: At a crossroad you can continue straight, while at a T-intersection your road ends.
  • Y-Intersection: Y-Intersection means the road splits into two angled branches rather than ending at a cross road.
  • Dead End: DEAD END means the road ends with no way through, while at a T you can turn left or right.
